Saturday has rolled around, and the time has come around again to be grateful and give thanks. As always, my list could go on forever, but here are some for today.
People: My family, my Dream Team friends, my blogging friends and others I meet through this blog, the people with whom I work, my doctors and medical teams, and all of the individuals with whom I share this life and this world.
Comfort and Security: A roof over my head, food in my stomach, water for me to drink or with which to bathe and keep my clothes clean; those clothes themselves, and all the other things that make my life so comfortable.
Discernment: The gift of beauty and color and light and dark, and the ability to feel textures, and smell smells, and taste different foods. My gratitude for these senses grows with each simple encounter.
Spirit: My own recognition of my spirit, and the spirit of everything and everyone around me; Life in all its mystery and in all its forms.
Health: I am thankful for my health, and for the fact that I wasn’t born 100 years earlier. I would only have lived three weeks or so past my diagnosis, which is what used to happen to diabetics; instead I am almost 38 years a woman with diabetes, and I am feeling better than I have, ever before.
Spring! Spring is almost here — with all the wonderful happenings that accompany it — flowers and leaves and grass and warmth and that freshness of the air that comes along and banishes winter once again.
My life is full of reasons to be grateful — I’ve started my book, and I have a wonderful team of women writers to encourage me, cry with me, laugh with me. I am the very luckiest of women, because I found all of this now, instead of having left it too long and let it drift away like mist. I am humbly, joyfully, soulfully grateful.
