(N.B. This is a repost about tonight’s TED talks on the Science Channel. My understanding is that they are planning to put some of their best speakers on for tonight’s program. I urge anyone, who believes in the spread of ideas, to watch.)
More and more frequently, one can find the acronym TED online and in public media. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design, and its primary purpose is to serve the dissemination of Ideas Worth Spreading. TED foundation is owned by The Sapling Foundation; the basic tenets of the foundation, and the methods TED uses to spread these ideas can be found at this link. Members of TED believe that an idea can change the world.
I am posting this information, because TED and the Science Channel are teaming up to present a series called TED Talks Science which begins at 10:00 on the night of March 30, 2012.
The above link is a short commercial preview from the Science Channel, which readers may have seen on television.
I urge anyone who is in the least interested in the way the universe works, our place in it, and how those workings change as we look at smaller and smaller particles of the stuff of the world, to watch this series.
Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Cosmology, the origins of the universe, our galaxy, our solar system, our moon, and ourselves; all of these are a very small sampling of the diverse topics covered by TED . I strongly recommend following these programs, or at least sparking up the DVR or the TIVO. And enjoy!
