Here I am on a Friday night with a little time, so I’m writing this list tonight, because tomorrow Mom and I will be restoring her kitchen over its new floor. I am thankful that I have this little bit of extra time — I always enjoy extra time to think about how lucky I am.
Today was my second day at work this week, which means I’ll have double the salary on my next check. That is something to be grateful for, no question. Besides, I love my job, and I am happy to be there more often each week. In addition, I had a strenuous workout at Physical Therapy, and still felt okay when I was done, so that is worth celebration, as well.
I am grateful for all the people who surround me with a lovely, large support system. My family and friends, coworkers and caregivers all help, far above and beyond anything I have the right to expect. I only hope I can do the same for others who need my support.
I am looking forward to digging in over at Mom’s tomorrow — I don’t do anywhere near enough physical labor, and we’ll both get a workout. In addition, I always love spending time with Mom, especially on the weekends. I hope we’ll have another beautiful, sunny day — cooler, for Mom’s sake and probably for mine, but I am basking in the sun.
I am also very thankful that a topic for a novel appeared in my mind, just when I was ready to start writing again. I am not sawing away at it — when I want to write, or if a fraction of a plot twist comes to mind, I make sure I include it with the rest of the document. I’m not striving for any deadline. I received some very good feedback from the people I consulted this week — thanks for that. The storyline is firming up in my mind — getting more interesting too.
As always, I am thankful for my health, my home, my family and friends, and for this blog, which is a near-perfect outlet for my love of writing. I am grateful for my apartment, and for food and clothes and medicines and everything I own that makes me a reasonably happy, more-balanced-every-day person. Thanks to my readers for your comments and encouragement. I wish I could communicate how much you help me every day.
I am grateful to be alive, and I am blessed, and I am lucky. A good combination.
