Things are looking up — 100WCGU Week #92

Julia, of Julia’s Place, hosts The 100-Word Challenge for GrownUps.  This week’s theme is unusual.  Instead of a photo or a phrase, the prompt is, simply, yellow.

I stared at the photograph, perturbed.  My skin was yellow —  not solid yellow, like with hepatitis, but rather a spotty yellow.  For just a second, I mourned my pretty legs from high school, slender and tanned.  Today’s discoloration was a side-effect of uncontrolled blood sugar; this change in my arms and legs was drastic.  I still had use of both of my legs, though.

I screwed up my courage, dressed in a short skirt and a light blouse, and out the door I went, with my oddly-colored arms and legs.  I bet I’m the only one with polka-dot skin.  I smiled.
